I’ve been journaling for a while now, but this is the first time I’ve ever journaled in public.
The idea is that I want to share my raw, unfiltered thoughts of my life and the progress I’m making to build an elite mind, body, and life.
The problem is that when people share stuff online it’s usually carefully edited and curated for the public to make their life look as incredible as possible. I’ve definitely been guilty of this from time to time, too. So, I’m going to try my best to just write without making much, if any, changes.
I don’t know how long these posts will be or how useful they’ll be to anyone else. I suspect nobody will even read it. But, if you’re here and interested in following my journey, feel free to reach out to me on socials or by signing up to my email list (Elite Mode).
Anyway, at the moment I’m in Australia, just outside Byron Bay. It’s such a beautiful part of the world and I’m incredibly grateful to be here and to be doing all the stuff I’ve been doing out here recently.
I spent the day at the Byron Bay library getting a few things up and running, including this public journal, finishing an article on the science of gut health, and creating my first short-form video too.
I realise that I just need to be far more prolific with my content creation. But I want to do it in a light hearted and enjoyable way. Because I’ve realised recently that when I set deadlines for the content, it creates a level of stress and anxiety that kills the creativity. I end up hating what I’m doing and nothing gets shipped.
What I’m hoping to achieve is by making the process more fun, I become more consistent and things get shipped faster anyway. For example, today was the first time I’ve posted anything on social media for such a long time and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. (Sure, being in Byron Bay may be part of the magic here, but you get the point).
So, this is the plan on the content creation side of things. Post more, but make sure I’m having fun.
I’ve also been thinking a lot about the sort of content I want to create (my USP/niche). I have a pretty good idea of what that looks like, but there’s nothing concrete in my mind. It’s a blurry image at best, but I can see the shape of it. So, I’ll share more about that as well over the coming weeks, but the main idea I wanted to share is that it isn’t totally straight forward defining what I want to put out into the world.
Part of me wanted to create a solid plan before the first post went live, but I determined that this was just procrastination because regardless of how good the plan is on day one, it’s going to change. So, instead, I just put the first thing out there and hope the niche/USP will gradually become less blurry over time.
Also, just as a baseline, it might be interesting to share stats from time to time to see how things are growing and changing (or declining for that matter). On YouTube right now I have 13,300 subscribers from 80 videos, but the rate of growth is abysmal. This is primarily because I’ve changed the sort of content I create about 5 times now, so my audience is a little confused about what sort of videos I make. I’m hoping to fix this as I figure out the niche thing, but this will be done in good time.
I’ll keep things there for now and share more stuff tomorrow.
Adios.
Three Things That Happened Today
- Started a public journal, sharing the progress and thoughts I have each day.
- Posted my first short-form video content documenting the journey too – not sure how long I’ll keep this up.
- Published an article on the science of gut health.
